State Park Signage Design

This project is a little different than most of my other ones, it focuses on environmental design and interactive experience design. I had to find a park where the signage and way-finding system was lacking and redesign it to improve the usability. I had to redesign 6 signs to make them easier to follow and understand, while making sure that they still met the state standards/codes and would last under the natural elements for a long time.

I chose to improve the signage at Swatara State Park in Central PA. I went to the park a couple of times and did some hiking to learn about the way-finding system in place and found the flaws that needed to be corrected. I took pictures of the signs and redesigned them so you can see a before and after. Also involved with this project was creating physical prototypes in order to present my work and see how the signs would look in their actual size. I used Illustrator to create the new signs and photoshop to put them in the photos over the old signs.
